To celebrate her life and her huge contribution to the literary world, we are offering all of our Jane Austen merchandise at 20% off this week. “What I say is, a town isn’t a town without a bookstore. It may call itself a town, but unless it’s got a bookstore it knows it’s not fooling a soul.”- Hinzelmann, American Gods
Although Hinzelmann turned out to be ***Spoiler Alert*** a child-murdering goblin, his quote about towns and bookstores rings true. My wife and I have lived in Lebanon for years, and we saw the need for a good bookstore in this town. So this year we decided to take the plunge and open our own.
We want to be Lebanon’s destination for book lovers. We have a huge selection of used books (organized into categories and alphabetized), and a growing selection of new books. In addition, we have large area dedicated to Comics, Manga, and Graphic Novels Coming soon we will have new comics each week – if you have a comic series you follow, please leave a message or comment letting us know which ones you would like for us to carry. We also have a range of book related gifts like our Out of Print bags featuring prints from classic book covers or our LitoGraphs, which have the text of an entire book condensed into an art print.
I will be using this Blog to post about events happening at the store, as well as posting some book reviews. Stay tuned!
Where did the name Harper’s Books come from?
Harper is our daughter. She is 5 years old and is starting Kindergarten at Byars-Dowdy Elementary School this August. We named Harper after Harper Lee, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird. This is one of my favorite books ever and we felt it would be appropriate for a bookstore. This is also why we have a mockingbird silhouette in our logo.
